My name is Dominick Piegaro. I have lived in Dublin for 15 years, raised my family in this beautiful community and I am proud to be running for Dublin School Board Trustee in District 5 in November.
I came to Dublin for a new job and I stayed because of the many benefits this City could bring to my family, including outstanding schools and plentiful educational opportunities.
I am running for the Board of Trustees to bring a new voice and fresh perspective to the community. I am a resident, a parent, a coach, former district employee and a student mentor. I know what our students need to succeed because I’ve asked them. I know the ways in which our schools can better serve our kids because I’ve walked the halls of our schools every day and seen it for myself. I will bring passion and energy and a student-first attitude to this important job.
When I began working as a branch manager for Washington Mutual Bank, I knew I had found my new home. We eventually moved to Dublin, as I continued my career in banking and finance and I found myself experiencing a calling to take a more active role in the community. It began by serving as a Noon Supervisor at my daughters’ school at Dougherty Elementary.
I soon discovered that my true passion was in mentoring our youth. I began working at other schools in the Dublin Unified School District. And when the opportunity came to serve as a campus supervisor at Fallon Middle School, I decided to take a permanent full-time position in education – leaving my career in banking. That life-changing opportunity led to another, as a football coach. Eventually, I would take on roles as a football, baseball, and wrestling coach at Dublin High School (DHS).
I stayed at Fallon for four years, took a short break and returned to DUSD as the lead campus supervisor at Dublin High School. In that role, I was able to mentor and connect to thousands of DHS students. While I am no longer working at DHS, I continue to be involved with students, coaching and mentoring, e.g. as a chaperone for dances, school activities and field trips, such as the Fallon Middle School Washington D.C. trip.
I have been married for 22 years to my best friend, Anne. Our three amazing children; two 11th graders and a freshman in college, are products of our outstanding schools, attending since kindergarten. I’m so proud of how they are making the most of the opportunities they have been afforded thanks to DUSD’s outstanding programs and extra-curricular offerings.
My unique perspective, given my many roles in our schools, is what Dublin needs! I want my experience to benefit our students and our schools and I am excited for the opportunity to serve!
